Pedestrian struck by Metra train in Downers Grove Tuesday is 2nd fatally at station in last 24 hours

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. – A pedestrian was fatally hit by a Metra train in Downers Grove Tuesday morning at the same station where a man was struck and killed Monday afternoon.

According to Metra, BNSF train No. 1228 hit a pedestrian around 7:30 a.m. near the Downers Grove station at 5001 Main Street.

Inbound and outbound train movement has resumed near Main Street. Metra says some trains may be operating with extensive delays.

This is the second fatal Metra incident involving a pedestrian at the Downers Grove station in the last 24 hours. On Monday, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a Metra train at the Downers Grove/Main Street station around 4:30 p.m.
