Over 30K without power as atmospheric river slams Portland region

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – As an atmospheric river continues to slam the Pacific Northwest, several power outages have been reported throughout the greater Portland metro area Monday afternoon.

Powerful winds and record rain have already begun making their way through downtown Portland while the Columbia River Gorge experiences flooding and landslides.

Portland General Electric is reporting 504 total outages impacting 31,896 people as of 6 p.m.

Pacific Power is also reporting outages impacting just over 2,000 customers in the area, most of which were seen in Portland’s Montavilla neighborhood.

So far, Clark Public Utilities has not reported any outages, though their website says 2,316 customers have had their power recently restored.
