Above-average temperatures to kick off the week

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Monday, Utah! It’s a very nice Monday weather pattern around the region.

A weak disturbance passing to our north will send us some scattered clouds from time to time this afternoon, but daytime highs will still climb into the upper 50s across the Wasatch Front, and into the mid 70s for SW Utah. These temperatures will average some 10°-15° above where they should be. We will call it partly cloudy skies, with just a slight chance for a sprinkle or shower for the Cache Valley and the Uintas.

Tonight, another minor system passes through. This system likely won’t be able to produce widespread rain chances, but a few sprinkles may be possible before a “cool” front arrives on Tuesday. This system will be lacking major moisture in the Beehive state, so I would not expect more than a few mountain flurries on Tuesday. The front will help to bring breezy winds to the area, and a brief cooldown with our daytime high temperatures.

We will stay slightly cooler on Wednesday, before a nice rebound in temperatures as high pressure settles in for the rest of the week. Temperatures will gradually increase back into the mid 50s for the Wasatch Front, low 70s for St. George. We will remain mostly dry through the end of the week as high pressure holds firm. A weak cut-off low pressure may try to skim southern Utah, bringing a slight chance for a shower or two for this weekend. A much stronger storm system will arrive next week in the Tuesday/Wednesday time frame, bringing a better chance for widespread precipitation and colder temperatures to the state.
