Suspect accused in Chicago stabbings that killed woman, critically wounded her 2 sons awaits extradition to Illinois, faces charges

CHICAGO — A Chicago man accused of killing a woman and stabbing her two sons faces multiple charges as he awaits extradition back to Illinois from Indiana.

Marcus Bausley, 39, is facing a felony charge of resisting an arrest in Indiana, as well as charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery and kidnapping.

Relatives identify Bausley as the victim’s ex-boyfriend.

Teone Jones, 33, was stabbed multiple times inside a residence in the 7100 block of South Eberhart on the city’s South Side last Thursday evening. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A prayer vigil held on Sunday for family and friends, not only to pray, but to send a strong message.

“This is the first time in this community we’ve had domestic violence cases. We’ve had other problems, but never nothing like this. This has devastated the entire community,” Darlene Tribue, president of Park Manor Neighbors, said.

The chain of tragic events started in Illinois and ended in Indiana.

In addition to the woman, two children, who family members identified as Jones’ sons, an 8-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy, were hospitalized in critical condition following the stabbings.

Before being stabbed, the 8-year-old was the subject of an Amber Alert and was found at a gas station on the 8200 block of South Damen.

Hours later, Bausley made his way across the border to Indiana where a license plate reader alerted police to his whereabouts.

A police chase ensued and state police eventually took Bausley into custody.

Community leaders and family still trying to wrap their minds around this tragedy.

“Very heartbreaking, very heart wrenching. I see her children coming in and out of the house, going home. I have school aged children. I’m a mother. I just wish someone was there to help her get out of this type of relationship,” Jones’ neighbor Nicole Mitchell said.

On Sunday evening, people walked the neigborhood and handed out flyers that say, “love shouldn’t hurt” — highlighting the reality of what domestic violence victims deal with on a daily basis.

“We will not wait for a woman with any type of abuse to come to us. The days are over. People are suffering inside their homes. It’s time for us to go to the homes,” Ald. William Hall (6th Ward) said.

The Sixth Ward will have two meetings Monday with an additional item on the agenda. They will call on residents to knock on doors to hand out resources for those dealing with domestic violence.

At last check Monday, both boys are still recovering in the hospital.
