Man shot over dice game in Opelousas, officials said

OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) — Two men have been arrested for their alleged connection to a shooting in Opelousas that resulted in a man getting shot in the head.

Opelousas police said, around 7 p.m. Saturday, they responded to a shooting that occurred on in the 1300 block of Nash Drive and, when they arrived, they discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The man was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Officials determined that an argument broke out during a dice game inside an apartment, leading to the shooting, and said they believed Montravious Leblanc fired the shot.

Later that evening, officials said, Montravious Leblanc voluntarily turned himself in to authorities and provided details regarding the incident. In connection with the altercation, investigators also arrested Jordan Leblanc.

Montravious Leblanc was arrested and sent to a St. Landry Parish jail on charges of attempted second degree murder, illegal use of weapons and dangerous instrumentalities, and obstruction of justice.

Jordan Leblanc was charged for simple battery against the victim, which occurred just before the shooting.

There is currently no bond information for either of the men.
