Kentucky in critical need for blood donations amid severe flooding

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — Following devastating flooding across Kentucky, blood supply is low.

Officials with the Kentucky Blood Center say a drop in donations this year is having a big effect on more than 70 hospitals.

A combination of the heavy snowfall at the beginning of the year and the floods have resulted in blood drive and appointment cancellations.

Governor Andy Beshear and the First Lady plan to host a blood drive in the Kentucky State Capitol Rotunda on Monday.
