Dozens of artist’s work was on display in the Pretzel City. Event creators, Greater Freeport Partnership, brought local breweries and small businesses to the gathering for everyone to enjoy as well.
“I think it’s fantastic. I’ve had home-school mothers here. I’ve had a couple of kids come up once and do some painting,” said local artist Tina Cannova. “It lets people know we’re here and I think it says a lot about Freeport.”
Some non-locals also traveled as far as the Quad Cities to see Freeport for the first time.
“It’s been awesome. We got cookies, hot chocolate, beer when we went shopping already,” said Kelsey Fitzpatrick. “We’ve only been here for, what, maybe like an hour. This is actually my first time in like downtown Freeport. And it’s so cute. I didn’t realize how many cute shops are actually down here.”
The Owner of Cookie Jar, Angela Conroy, said bringing the city together for events like these gets everyone invested.
“We could use more events like this. So, it would be great if some of the other smaller communities wouldn’t join in,” said Conroy. “If we could do an epic walk where it’s through all the little towns.”
