Corrections center captain identified as victim in Rowan County death investigation

MOREHEAD, Ky. (FOX 56) — Authorities have released the name of a 28-year-old man who was found dead in the early hours of Saturday morning following reports of a shooting in the area.

Around 12:35 a.m. on Saturday, Morehead 911 received a call requesting an ambulance for a man who had been shot at a home on Oak Grove Road.

Deputies from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched alongside Kentucky State Police (KSP) troopers to the scene of the alleged shooting. When emergency personnel got to the home, they found the body of a 28-year-old man.

The Rowan County Coroner’s Office posted on Facebook that the man was identified as Nicholas Clevenger, 28, of Ezel.

According to the coroner’s office, Clevenger had been a captain at the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex (EKCC) in West Liberty.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

Clevenger’s body is being taken to Frankfort for an autopsy by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Department is continuing the death investigation.
