By rssfeeds-admin COLFAX, La. (WNTZ) – Fourteen inmates at the Grant Parish Detention Center have earned forklift operator certifications through a partnership between the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office and Central Louisiana Technical and Community College (CLTCC).
The certification program aims to equip inmates with job-ready skills before their release.
“The goal is to give the inmates an opportunity to learn a skill, have the certification, and be able to immediately go to work when they get out of jail,” said Sheriff Steven McCain.
By providing vocational training, the sheriff’s office hopes to reduce recidivism and increase employment opportunities for those reentering society. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to prepare inmates for successful reintegration into the workforce.
