Child sex abuser fled who fled from authorities for 9 years sentenced

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Hillsboro man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for child sexual abuse, officials announced Friday afternoon.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, in January 2014, the victim disclosed to her Grandfather that Edwin Hernandez-Rodriguez, 49, had been sexually abusing her and that he would spy on her in the shower.

In June 2014, Hernandez-Rodriguez was indicted by a Washington County Grand Jury, but he fled the state.

Almost a decade later, in February 2023, Hernandez-Rodriguez was found and arrested in Glendale, Arizona and extradited back to Oregon.

On Feb. 20, a jury found Hernandez-Rodriguez guilty of first-degree rape and invasion of personal privacy.
