Mardi Gras krewe rises from the ashes Uptown Saturday night

METAIRIE, La. (WGNO) — The first weekend of Mardi Gras is ready to roll.

The Mystical Order of The Phoenix celebrates its fifth year.

WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood gives you a sneak peak inside the parade’s floats.

The parade rolls uptown Saturday, Feb. 22 at 5:30 pm. and the ladies of the Phoenix are really rising this year.

With the Spartan Society, their throws include passport covers, travel perfume bottles, luggage tags, Jazz Fest festival blankets, purse straps, and night lights.

You can even catch a collapsible stool to sit and watch the rest of the parade.

The theme this year is “Love Around the World.”
