15 Kentuckians dead from flooding and freezing temperatures

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has confirmed that 15 people have died as a result of severe winter weather in the commonwealth.

During an update on Thursday, the governor said the state is moving from the emergency search-and-rescue phase to the stabilization phase. Beshear thanked first responders, Kentucky State Police, the Kentucky National Guard, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet as well as local police, fire and emergency managers.

The governor launched the Team Kentucky Storm Relief fund to help citizens impacted by the winter weather. Officials say the fund has already raised more than $199,000. You can donate to the fund by visiting the website here.
