BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Baton Rouge Police Department arrested a man accused of armed robbery.
According to arrest records, 19-year-old Curtis Johnson, of Baker, is accused of threatening a 72-year-old woman, who was walking from a nearby pharmacy in the 4300 block of Crown Avenue, to give him her wallet on Feb. 11. When the victim refused, Johnson brandished a gun. The wallet fell, Johnson recovered it and fled the scene.
On Feb. 13, the victim told detectives she informed family and friends about the robbery and gave a description of Johnson.
Johnson’s cousin contacted the victim and informed her they recalled learning “he’d robbed an old lady on Crown.”
Detectives created a six-person lineup to present to the victim. She was able to identify Johnson within seconds and said she “was 100% sure this was the person who robbed her, and she would never forget his face.”
Johnson was arrested and booked on charges of armed robbery. He was previously arrested for burglary, access device fraud, theft, and possession of a firearm. Johnson also pleaded guilty to aggravated battery.
