Main risk of gusty winds, hail up to 1″ in diameter. In addition, localized flash flooding concern with 1-3″ of rain likely. Hot spots of 3+” possible.
Behind the line of thunderstorms, ARCTIC air spills across the Gulf Coast! Temperatures will rival records over the next few days with freezing temperatures Thursday & Friday morning.
Wind chills in the TEENS on Thursday morning across much of south Louisiana & Mississippi. Get ready to bundle up.
Let’s talk weekend parades…it’s the first big weekend of the Carnival season. And we’ve got a few questions about rain chances, especially Sunday.
Friday Night: CHILLY! Temperatures in the 40s. Light winds. Increasing clouds, no rain.
Saturday: Mostly cloudy with a few breaks of sun. Spotty shower in south Louisiana(10%.) Chilly! High temperatures in the low-middle 50s.
Sunday: The day that is presently the most at risk of seeing rain concerns. A bit milder with highs in the upper 50s-lower 60s.
Right now, the GFS says the rain chances are lower with a weaker area of low pressure developing offshore.
Meanwhile, the Euro model suggests a stronger impulse of energy with a deeper area of low pressure, which means increased rain chances Sunday morning-mid day. Too early to determine which model is correct — Let’s hope the GFS wins this battle. Stay tuned!
