Philadelphia Union adds new forward with a recording breaking contract

The Philadelphia Union announced that the club has agreed to a deal with Uruguayan Primera Division club, Nacional, for the transfer of forward Bruno Damiani. The acquisition comes at a record-breaking transfer fee for the club. Damiani is guaranteed through 2028, with an option for 2029. Damiani will be added to the Union’s active roster following receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P1 Visa and will occupy an international roster slot.

The 22-year-old forward joins the Union from Uruguay’s Primera División, where he played for Nacional. In 2023, he made 22 appearances for the club, recording two goals and three assists. He debuted on June 17, 2023, scoring in a 4-0 win over Club Deportivo Maldonado. In 2024, Damiani was loaned to Boston River, also in Uruguay’s topflight, where he tallied 12 goals and five assists in 38 matches, playing 3,056 minutes.

The Club also announced that they have signed Homegrown forward Edward (Eddy) Davis III to a three-year contract. His contract is guaranteed through 2027, with an option for 2028 and an option for 2029. The 18-year-old led Union II during the 2024 season with a record-breaking 13 goals and became the first player in team history to be named MLS NEXT Pro Rising Star of the Month three times in a season.

The 18-year-old played in 27 regular season games with Union II last season, scoring 13 goals and registering four assists in 1,773 minutes. His 13 goals led the club, ranked fourth in the league, and set a single season record for most goals by a Union II player, he was named MLS NEXT Pro Rising Star of the Month for April, May and September to become the first player in club history to earn the accolade three times in a single season and second player to earn the honors in back-to-back months.
