Throughout the day on Saturday we saw dry periods with cloudy skies and a few waves of scattered wintry precipitation.
By Saturday night and into early Sunday morning, we transition back over to mainly snow with below freezing temperatures.
Expect scattered snow showers leading to an additional 1 to 2 inches of accumulation by Sunday morning with highest totals to the north near the Wisconsin border.
The extended outlook calls for another round of bitter cold for Chicagoland.
Partly cloudy skies for Presidents Day on Monday see sub-zero wind chills and actual air temp near zero with highs only about 10 degrees.
Partly cloudy skies again on Tuesday with a low near -5 and high about 9.
A chance for some snow showers on Wednesday with highs near 14.
In the February 18 through 22 period, temperatures on average will be as much as 30-degrees below normal across the nation’s heartland.
