Deputies were dispatched to the 16000 block of Sisco Court just after 5:45 p.m., for a report of a person who had been shot.
They arrived to find an individual who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg, and discovered that a second person had been shot as well.
At that point, detectives were called to the scene to begin their investigation.
They say the suspect is 31-year-old Samuel Brito of Lemoore.
Deputies say the first victim was a man who refused to cooperate with them, and the second was a Santa Rosa Rancheria Department of Public Safety Officer.
They also say the officer was shot after contacting Brito following the first shooting.
Investigators say Brito fled the scene towards his nearby residence and was last seen wearing a red jacket, black pants, and a red bandana. He is described as a Native American male with black hair and brown eyes, stands 5-feet-10, and weighs approximately 240 pounds.
The DPS Officer was transported to an area hospital and is expected to survive. The condition of the other victim is unknown.
Brito currently has three outstanding warrants for his arrest, including a Ramey Warrant for the shooting that occurred Saturday night. Deputies warn that he is considered to be armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information on Brito’s whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Vargas at 559-584-9276.
