BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office released audio from a 911 call and body camera footage after a deputy-involved Port Allen shooting.

A 911 call around midnight Sunday, Feb. 2 reported multiple gunshots near River Road and Catherine Road. The sheriff’s office said the caller gave a description of a car before following it to Silver’s Truck Stop and Casino on Highway 190.

The caller told 911 operators that one of the people who got out of the car had pointed a gun at him.

Deputies attempted a traffic stop but the car failed to stop. According to WBRSO’s critical incident briefing, a deputy discharged his weapon, striking a suspect. The shooting injuries were non-life-threatening.

The suspect’s loaded handgun, which was reported stolen from St. Martin Parish, and a rifle were recovered.

Javen Edwards, 17, of Port Allen, Eugene George Jr., 21, of New Roads, and Terrall Davis, 19, of New Roads, were arrested. A juvenile was taken into custody at the scene and later released, according to deputies.

Davis was identified by investigators as the person accused of pointing a gun at the 911 caller.

The sheriff’s office said a final report will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office for review.
