Vacant building collapes after massive fire on South Side; investigation underway

CHICAGO — Chicago fire crews battled a massive blaze at a building on the city’s South Side.

The fire broke out around 4 a.m. Friday at an abandoned building at 44th Place and Wentworth Avenue in the Fuller Park neighborhood.

Officials said the building was fully engulfed in flames, causing it to collapse.

The fire was struck around 5 a.m.

No firefighters were injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
