Chicago police and fire department responded to a blaze at a multi-unit apartment building on the 300 block of South Kilpatrick Avenue around 1 a.m. Tuesday.
Police said a man, approximately 50-years-old, was transported to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The man’s identity has not yet been released.
According to police, 13 adults and 10 juveniles safely exited the building with no reported injuries.
