Cambridge City man pronounced dead after being pinned beneath skid steer

MILTON, Ind. — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a Cambridge City man was pronounced dead after he was reportedly pinned beneath a skid steer.

According to a news release, deputies from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 block of East North Street in Milton at around 12:29 p.m. Wednesday on a report of an unresponsive man.

When they arrived at the scene, the release said that a man, later identified as 57-year-old Joseph Peggs, was pinned beneath an overturned skid steer. First responders were able to free Peggs from under the equipment and “immediately began rendering medical aid,” the release said

Peggs was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital, the release said. An initial investigation into the incident states that this was “a tragic accident.”
