Wrong-way DUI driver arrested in Fresno County

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A DUI driver was arrested in Fresno County after driving the wrong way on a freeway in Fresno and picking up speeds of almost 100 mph, the California Highway Patrol said.

CHP says their dispatch center received a 911 call reporting a wrong-way driver going southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 99 south of Manning Avenue at speeds of up to 90 mph.

Officers say a CHP unit stopped freeway traffic at Second Street in Selma, where the driver made a U-turn.

CHP reports the driver was driving under the influence almost three times the legal limit. He was arrested and booked.
