Here’s how Fresno is preparing for the incoming storms

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Wet weather is expected to hit parts of the Central Valley, and according to Scott Mozier, the Public Works Director for the City of Fresno, the city is preparing for the storms.

“We do have we have a great group of city employees who are on call and ready for a 24/7 response for anything the storm may bring,” Mozier said.

He said city employees are gearing up to respond to flooding, potholes and downed trees.

“When we have storm events, we form up multiple additional crews as the need arises,” he said. “At this very moment, our team is out doing things like repairing sidewalks, doing pothole patching, cleaning median islands. But when the storm hits, we rapidly redeploy our team into storm response as needed.”

PG&E Spokesperson Jeff Smith said their crews are also ready to respond to toppled trees, rain and wind which can all take down power lines.

“Not only is it the wet weather, but it’s really the windy weather which can knock down power lines [and] can knock vegetation down,” he said. “So, our crews are really preparing to do is to respond to those types of situations.”

Smith said crews could be responding to potential power outages for the next few days.

“Our crews are prepared to be working steady at least through Friday and probably throughout the weekend,” he said.

The fastest way to report flooding or a downed tree is by using the FresGO app; residents can also dial 311.
