Firefighters responded to a house fire on Myers Avenue near Merced Street at approximately 11:15 a.m. Friday.
Upon arrival, crews say they were able to extinguish the flames, preventing further damage to the home and spreading to the attic. There was one person inside the home at the time, but they managed to escape safely without injury.
Due to the damage of the fire, the person has been displaced.
Following the incident, the fire department reminded everyone of the importance of staying vigilant while cooking and never leaving food unattended to prevent kitchen fires.
