“The number one issue in 2015 and 2016 was the border,” Trump said, adding that “this border was much worse” under the Biden administration. He credited Abbott as “an unbeatable governor” for his efforts to tackle the border crisis and joked about being pleased to see him in the audience. The president also addressed the construction and cost of the Texas border wall, vowing that with his administration, “that wall will go up so fast.”
Governor Abbott was seated near the president and visibly reacted to Trump’s comments smiling and nodding. Trump’s mention of winning the Texas border drew significant attention as he emphasized his commitment to border security.
