IDAHO FALLS — A local man has died after being crushed by an ATV.
On Friday, Jan. 10, 59-year-old Lane Sommer of Idaho Falls was doing routine maintenance on a four-wheeler in front of a home on Gemmet Creek Drive in Idaho Falls. The vehicle rolled onto Sommer, injuring him, according to Bonneville County Coroner Shante Sanchez.
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident, and Lane was transported by emergency responders to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
According to a Facebook post by Lane’s son, Tyler Sommer, Lane suffered severe head injuries. He was on life support for several days and died Tuesday night, officials said.
“It was an unfortunate incident, but it was nice to see his whole family was surrounding him in his passing, and they were there for him,” Sanchez said.
Lane Sommer is survived by his wife and six children.
