Whiskey Myers Delivers Stripped Down Cover Of Bob Seger’s “Night Moves”

Whiskey Myers wrapped up 2024 with acoustic tour dates, which allowed fans to see the East Texas rock and roll band in a new light. During their traditional shows, frontman Cody Cannon ran across the stage, hyping up the crowd as he delivered the Texas country rock lyrics.

While their acoustic shows still featured the entire band, everyone switches to acoustic instruments (if applicable), and they slightly scale down the rock and roll energy.

Cannon often sits during these acoustic shows and lets the lyrics and his vocal talent shine on stage.

During their shows, the men of Whisky Myers often keep their setlist to their hits like “Broken Window Serenade,” “Stone,” “John Wayne,” and other fan-favorite tracks, but they also throw in a cover or two of classics.

In 2024, Tony Kent delivered a stellar rendition of Jackson Browne’s “Running On Empty,” which left fans wanting more classics from the group. Whiskey Myers heard our cries, and they delivered on the acoustic tour, incorporating Bob Seger’s “Night Moves.”

Seager released the iconic as the lead single of his ninth self-titled record, Bob Seger, in 1976. Recorded at Nimbus Nine Studios in Toronto, Seger reflects on young love in his later years. As a teenager, he reminisces about sneaking around, the thrill of doing “adult” things while hoping not to be caught, and those first big feelings he experienced.

Whiskey Myers’ rendition of the track is a heater. Cody Cannon sits on stage during the Fort Lauderdale stop of their acoustic tour and lets it rip. As he performs the track for the crowd, you can tell that Cannon feels the music deep in his soul. During the song’s final portion, the band scales back the melody heavily and lets Cannon’s vocals shine as he powerfully delivers the last few lines of the song.

It will leave you with your jaw dropped. Cody Cannon’s talent is unbridled, and this portion of the cover highlights that fully. Whiskey Myers does not miss, and this performance of “Night Moves” showcases that statement.
