'The shells were really big': Abilene resident recalls Sunday night shooting
ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Residents of a North Abilene neighborhood say the silence of Sunday night was shattered by the sound of multiple gunshots.

Abilene police responded to reports of gunfire in the 1200 block of Green Street around 7:50 p.m. on January 5. While no injuries have been reported or arrests have been made, the incident has concerned residents. Elsa Aguirre was there that night and recalled what she saw.

“It was loud. It’s like ‘pop!’ After that, it was like ‘Pop pop pop!’ five more times. I told my husband, “Get down!” I ran to the living room, and I looked out the door. Sure enough, we’d seen a black truck driving by; I guess they were the ones that had shot at the house. Then, the kids that lived across the street ran to their vehicle, and they took off as well. By then, my neighbors were out here; they were on the phone with the cops. I call the cops. Then we waited for the cops to get here. The shells were really big,” Aguirre recalled.

Aguirre also mentioned that another neighbor captured the incident on their doorbell camera. That footage has since been turned over to law enforcement to aid in the investigation.

Police have not released further details. BigCountryHomepage will provide updates as the story develops.
