Police pursuit in East Bay ends with crash; driver, pedestrian injured

DANVILLE — An Oakland man was hospitalized following a crash Tuesday that police said occurred after a pursuit by two different agencies.

In a statement, Danville police said they arrested 42-year-old Tramayne Baker on suspicion of felony evasion. Baker went to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for treatment of his unspecified injuries and was unconscious when an ambulance took him away, police said.

The crash happened just after 10:45 a.m. on San Ramon Valley Boulevard, after police said they’d called off the chase when the car they were pursuing drove into opposite lanes of traffic at Town and Country Drive. The car hit another vehicle and then a tree, police said.

A pedestrian also suffered minor injuries from the debris sent flying in the crash, police said. He was treated at the scene and released.

According to police, Danville officers began to go after a 1992 purple Lexus LS400 as it drove north on San Ramon Valley Boulevard. Earlier, police said, the California Highway Patrol had followed the speeding Lexus on Interstate 680 and continued to follow it after it exited at Sycamore Valley Boulevard.

The CHP stopped the pursuit after last seeing the Lexus going south on Camino Ramon, police said. The Lexus lost control just after Danville police called off their chase.
