TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The tropics are quiet this week.

This comes after the main development region, an area of warm Atlantic waters that stretches from the coast of Africa to the Gulf and the Caribbean that sees a large amount of tropical development, showed its first signs of life.

The disturbance in that area is no longer marked for potential development, according to the National Hurricane Center, as it encountered more hostile conditions as it drifted westward.

We can expect to begin seeing more activity in the region as it ramps up, generally around August.
