Utah man hospitalized after gyrocopter crash in Nephi

NEPHI, Utah — The Juab County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a Davis County man has been hospitalized after a gyrocopter crashed Tuesday evening in Nephi.

Chief Deputy Brent Pulver said the crash happened at the Nephi Municipal Airport and dispatch received a call about the incident just before 9:00 p.m. Tuesday.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating the one-person aircraft crash, according to Pulver.

The victim’s name was not released but Pulver said he is a 66-year-old male from Kaysville.

The FAA requires pilots to have a sport pilot license to fly gyrocopters.

Fatal rollover crash closes I-15 in Nephi

NEPHI, Utah – Northbound Interstate 15 is closed in Nephi following a fatal rollover crash, according to Utah Highway Patrol.

UHP was notified of the crash near milepost 227 just after noon Thursday.

A crew cab GMC truck was pulling a loaded trailer that had a Toyota Camry in tow behind it, according to UHP.

The truck began to sway and the driver lost control due to the speed and load configuration, police said.

The driver swerved to the right and then crashed into the median; he suffered head and neck injuries and died as a result of the crash.

A female passenger was transported to Central Valley Medical Center and is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

UHP said both occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
