Planetcast Acquires BroadStream In Media Technology Expansion

Planetcast said today it has acquired BroadStream Solutions, adding integrated playout, captioning, subtitling and broadcast workflow products to its global media services business.

Planetcast said BroadStream will anchor a newly created Products Division that combines software for integrated playout, time delay and accessibility workflows with Planetcast’s global media services and distribution infrastructure.

The company said the deal is designed to help content owners and broadcasters build and run linear, streaming and hybrid workflows more efficiently.

“BroadStream is a natural fit for Planetcast as we expand our product capabilities alongside our global services business,” said Sanjay Bhatt, Planetcast CEO. “This acquisition brings together BroadStream’s proven broadcast products with Planetcast’s services and global infrastructure to support customers across more of the content lifecycle. The combination creates new opportunities to connect these capabilities across content preparation, playout, localization, streaming and distribution, while giving customers the flexibility to build solutions around their specific operations and growth plans.”

David Bowes, BroadStream CEO, will lead Planetcast’s new Products Division. Planetcast said he will oversee product strategy, development and go-to-market execution, with a focus on supporting BroadStream customers and partners during the transition.

Planetcast said BroadStream will form the foundation of the new division, bringing its OASYS Integrated Playout platform and a broader portfolio covering playout, time delay, captioning, subtitling and accessibility workflows.

The company said the division will combine BroadStream’s product expertise with Planetcast’s infrastructure, services and market reach to support product development, expand availability and bring media technology products to market.
