DHD Launches MX3 Modular Broadcast Console At IBC

DHD.audio is launching its MX3 console range at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, Sept. 11-14, a new addition to its broadcast sound production platform aimed at changing production workflows.

The company said MX3 keeps the modularity, operational flexibility and expandability of its Series 52 models while adding new capabilities for what the European Broadcasting Union has called the dynamic media facility.

DHD said the system is built for studios where program formats change, staff are smaller and technology is expected to keep up without frequent replacement cycles. Rather than requiring a full system swap, the company said new features can be added through individual modules.

The MX3 is DHD’s third generation of Series 52 control surfaces, and the company said it combines its existing construction approach with the ability to add features when needed.

DHD said the consoles remain compatible with external digital processing cores used in its systems, allowing users to upgrade production infrastructure without replacing the entire setup.

The company said it has surpassed 10,000 installations.

MX3 also keeps support for audio-over-IP standards including AES67, Dante, Ravenna and SMPTE 2110. DHD said the new range uses secure standard IP networking between desktop control panels and local or remote processing cores, replacing the APC audio, power and control protocol used in current Series 52 systems.

Each MX3 module is a self-contained network device linked by standard Ethernet with PoE+ over a single cable per console column. DHD said the consoles can be assembled from a central module, six-fader expansion modules, optional over-bridge modules and optional displays mounted above the surface.

Modules can be added, exchanged or repaired while the system is in operation, and the assignment between console and processing core is no longer fixed. DHD said the operating concept follows a simple rule: what users see is what they control.

“DHD this year celebrates the 30th anniversary of its foundation and has been building modular systems right from the start,” said Marc Herrmann, managing director. “Control surfaces, processing cores, analog and digital connectivity, software and APIs all unite into a single system which can be upgraded or expanded to any desired extent at any time as new standards are adopted or studios are repurposed. What remains are the system and the existing investment.”

Visitors can see the MX3 on DHD Stand 8.B46 at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, Sept. 11-14.
