Mimir Rebrands Editor As It Expands Browser-Based Production Tools

Mimir is using IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, Sept. 11-14, in Stand 7.A53 to show how its cloud-native media production platform is expanding beyond basic cutting tools into a broader browser-based environment for editing, collaboration and AI-driven workflow orchestration.

The company said its Mimir Editor, previously known as Mimir Cutter Enhanced, reflects customer demand for more complete editing capabilities. The original Mimir Cutter product will remain available for customers who want a streamlined cutting workflow.

Mimir said the browser-based editor sits in the same environment where teams ingest, search, manage and enrich content. Available in beta, the tool includes multiple video tracks, transitions, audio controls, image and video overlays and full-sequence preview.

At IBC, the company plans to demonstrate workflows that combine scheduled live recordings, growing-proxy editing and editable graphics so teams can move from incoming content to editing, rendering and delivery without repeatedly transferring media between systems.

That approach is designed to help teams produce branded versions for broadcast, web and social from the same workflow.

Steinar Søreide, Mimir chief technology officer, said: “Mimir Cutter began as a fast way to turn source material into a usable sequence. As customers brought more of their production into Mimir, the need grew to handle full editing workflows in different input and output formats, graphics, and delivery in the same flow. Mimir Editor reflects that evolution. It is about enabling teams to complete more of their everyday production in the browser, while continuing into a craft editor only when a project requires it. The beta will help us shape the next stage around real customer workflows.”

Mimir said high-volume sports production is a key use case because teams often work with multiple live feeds, growing recordings, social clips and still images from archives and network-attached storage.

The company said one customer is using Mimir for highlight editing during sports production and is ingesting material from 120 live feeds with minimal delay.

Mimir also said it supports scheduled live recordings and growing proxy editing, allowing producers and editors to begin building packages before recording ends.

The platform can keep high-resolution media in existing production infrastructure until teams need it for rendering or playout, which Mimir said helps reduce delays and allows more content to be published faster.

Mimir said teams can combine live and archive material, including HDR and SDR footage, with images and graphics in the same timeline. HDR-aware preview, editing and rendering are intended to reduce the need to convert or prepare each asset separately before work begins.

The company said its platform has long been vendor agnostic on AI, supporting transcription, translation, recognition, summarization and semantic discovery services depending on what a team chooses to use.

Mimir said its open APIs, webhooks, embeddable components, plugins and Developer MCP let customers and partners adapt the platform to their workflows. It said AI development tools can be used to build custom search and publishing tools, dashboards, provenance checks and operational applications in minutes.

The company said the goal is to unify content, metadata and AI orchestration in a single layer rather than split those functions across disconnected systems.

Mimir will be at IBC 2026 in Hall 7, Stand 7.A53, where it plans to give demos of its live production, editing, graphics, publishing and AI orchestration tools.
