Apple Museum Brings 50 Years of Creative Technology To IBC

The Apple Museum in Utrecht will bring a curated selection from its collection to IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, Sept. 11-14, using old and new Apple devices to trace five decades of creative technology used in media production.

The exhibit, in Future Tech in Hall 14 at Stand 14.B22, is themed “From desktop to pocket, and beyond the screen.”

The museum said the display will include a Macintosh IIfx representing an early Avid/1 editing suite, a Power Mac G3 marking the arrival of Final Cut Pro, and Apple Creator Studio on Mac Studio and iPad Pro showing a connected creative environment. It will also feature an iPhone 17 Pro Max and Vision Pro.

Visitors will also be able to see an Apple II, a 1984 Macintosh and an iMac DV. The museum said the display offers a preview of its collection in Utrecht, about 30 kilometers from Amsterdam.

Ed Bindels, founder of the Apple Museum, said: “Apple technology has played a significant role in the evolution of TV and film production, and many people working in media today will have their own memories of the products that helped change the way they worked. Bringing that story to IBC gives us an opportunity to connect those landmark moments with the people and technologies shaping creativity today and what may come next. Future Tech is a particularly fitting place to make that connection between the past, present and future.”

Jo Mayer, head of marketing at IBC, said the exhibit fits the event’s focus on emerging technology. “IBC has always been about looking ahead, but understanding how we got here can give us a fascinating perspective on where technology is taking us next. The Apple Museum exhibit brings that evolution to life in a very tangible way. It is a great fit for Future Tech, where established industry players, start-ups, researchers and innovators come together to explore emerging technologies and ideas that could shape the next chapter of media and entertainment.”

Future Tech in Hall 14 also will feature Future Tech Ignite, which the event said will connect more than 50 start-ups, entrepreneurs and emerging technologies through a Start-up Zone and Ignite Stage.

IBC said EIT Culture & Creativity will serve as innovation partner for Future Tech Ignite and host sessions on education, entrepreneurship and business development.

The event also will include the IBC Accelerator Media Innovation Program, where groups including Al Jazeera, Associated Press, Astro, BBC, Channel 4, DAZN, ITV, NBCUniversal and Sky will present work on nine projects covering agentic AI in live sports, immersive live experiences, next-generation streaming, 5G connectivity and media accessibility.

The Apple Museum Foundation said it is an independent nonprofit organization and is not affiliated with Apple Inc.
