SHENANDOAH – A teen on a dirtbike was flown to a Montour County hospital after state troopers say he crossed a grass lot and struck a passing car on East Laurel Street last week.
The crash happened around 2pm Thursday at Laurel and Market streets in Shenandoah.
According to the State Police at Frackville, Yurem Meija-Pimentel, 18, of Shenandoah, was riding an Apollo dirtbike southbound through an empty grass lot.
A 43-year-old Shenandoah woman was driving east on East Laurel Street towards Herald Road in a 2016 Nissan Rogue.
Troopers said Meija-Pimentel struck the SUV, suffering serious injuries and disabling the motorcycle.
He was taken by Shenandoah paramedics to the helipad and an awaiting air medical helicopter. He was then flown to Geisinger Medical Center near Danville for treatment.
Troopers said he will be cited for his role in the crash.
