Sony Electronics said Tuesday it is releasing its first fisheye zoom G Lens for full-frame Alpha E-mount cameras.
The SEL814G covers an 8 mm to 14 mm zoom range, with circular fisheye at 8 mm and diagonal fisheye at 14 mm. Sony said the lens is designed for landscapes, architecture, sports and video production, and combines a compact body with G Lens resolution, fast autofocus and controls for stills and movies.
The company said the lens also supports spatial content production when used in a dual-lens configuration with the VENICE Extension System Mini.
“Our first fisheye zoom runs circular through diagonal across 8 to 14 millimeters, so you can find your perspective standing right in front of the subject. We held it to G Lens resolution through the whole range, to provide an exciting, high-quality creative tool. And at 314 grams, you can carry it all day,” said Yang Cheng, Sony Electronics vice president of imaging solutions.
Sony said pre-orders for the SEL814G began today.
The company said the lens will be shown at its booth at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, Sept. 11-14.
Sony said the lens measures about 63.1 mm in maximum diameter and 82.8 mm in length, and weighs about 314 grams. It said the inner zoom mechanism helps keep the center of gravity stable while zooming.
The company also said the lens has a minimum focusing distance of 0.15 meters, a maximum magnification of 0.22x at the telephoto end, autofocus designed for quiet operation, and a dust- and moisture-resistant design. Sony said the front element has a fluorine coating.
