IBC: Imagine Communications To Debut Magellan PanelFlex

Imagine Communications will showcase new control portfolio advances at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, Sept. 11-14, including the debut of Magellan PanelFlex, a next-generation control surface for its Magellan Control System.

The company said the new product is designed to give operators context-based controls that adapt to changing production needs and allow freeform naming of signals at each operating position.

Magellan PanelFlex is part of the Magellan Control System, which provides IP and SDI routing control, real-time monitoring and an operator-focused work surface.

Imagine said the new panel system also includes Magellan PanelFlex-Canvas, a design environment that lets engineering users build control and information flows for individual operating positions.

The real-time engine behind the system can deliver those canvases through HTML5 web panels, dynamic integration on multiviewer surfaces and physical panels.

“From reassigning name sets to reconfiguring buttons on individual control surfaces, everything is just a click away, so the show goes faster and smoother,” said Adeel Ahmed, senior product manager for the Magellan Control System at Imagine Communications.

Imagine said Magellan PanelFlex-AI organizes system information into a Model Context Protocol interface designed to help AI systems act on live system status and data.

The company is also introducing MCP interfaces across its broader control portfolio, which it said is built to connect operators to content and infrastructure across media facilities.

That portfolio includes Aviator Orchestrator for on-premises, cloud and hybrid deployment management and Prismon, a software-defined multiviewer for centralized monitoring and diagnostics.

Imagine said it has also extended Prometheus monitoring endpoints across its product suite so users can integrate with IT observability platforms such as Grafana.

The company said its Professional Services team can help customers build custom dashboards for facility-wide visibility.

“Our customers are managing increasingly complex facilities with shrinking operational teams, and our control portfolio is designed for exactly that challenge,” said John Mailhot, Imagine senior vice president of product management. “We build to open interfaces and standard protocols, so we can provide customers with systemic monitoring and unified visibility leveraging available IT tools, rather than asking them to adopt something proprietary.”

Mailhot said the company will demonstrate how those open interfaces can support AI-enabled workflows.

Imagine will show Magellan PanelFlex and the rest of its control portfolio at its IBC Stand 1.B73.
