Bridge Technologies Expands VB440 Into Software-Based Deployment

Bridge Technologies will use IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, Sept. 11-14, to unveil a software-based version of its VB440 production probe, expanding the system beyond its current appliance form and onto shared compute, on-prem hardware and cloud-native environments.

The company said visitors to Booth 1.A71 will be able to see the software-based VB440 running across multiple platforms.

Bridge Technologies said the change gives users a more flexible way to deploy the VB440’s monitoring and production tools, whether as a full software unit on existing hardware or through third-party platforms such as NEP Platform and Grass Valley’s AMPP.

The company said the shift is especially important for live sports and other large events, where production teams may need to scale capacity up quickly and then scale back down after the event ends.

Instead of dedicating hardware to each monitoring function, engineers can spin up additional VB440 instances on demand, Bridge Technologies said.

The company said that approach allows broadcasters to expand the system’s capacity without being tied to a single appliance, while keeping the same analysis tools, Canvas interface and multiuser access.

Bridge Technologies Chairman Simen Frostad said the VB440 has always been centered on software. “The VB440 has always been about the software. The appliance was a great way to deliver it — simple, reliable, and incredibly capable in a compact form factor. But the underlying capabilities have always had the potential to scale further, and now there are convenient ways to access that scalability through platforms like NEP and Grass Valley.

“For broadcasters covering events of any size, this means they can deploy the VB440’s tools exactly when and where they need them, without being constrained by hardware.”

Bridge Technologies said the VB440 can now run on a dedicated appliance in an OB truck, on a server in a data center or in the cloud through orchestration platforms.

The company said the goal is to let the tool adapt to the production environment rather than forcing the workflow to fit the hardware.
