Delaware North makes final offer to Target Field concessions union, raises pay to $20 an hour, union unhappy

Delaware North, the global hospitality company that runs concessions at Target Field, says it created a final offer to the union that would raise employee wages to $20 an hour, with a $2.50 per-hour increase over three years for non-tipped workers.

Nearly 500 Target Field union members, including bartenders, dishwashers, waiters and attendants, will now have to vote on the offer.

The new compensation also includes leave-of-absence options, adds the Juneteenth holiday, and includes a revised break schedule with a meal voucher. The union has said it is fighting for fair pay, affordable healthcare and job protections.

However, the union says they are not happy with the offer.

UNITE HERE Local 17, which is the union for Target Field concession workers, and Delaware North have been at odds over a contract for months. Employees went on strike on June 22, when the LA Dodgers played the Twins, and again on Aug. 5, which was the night of the sold-out Noah Kahan concert.

The union and Delaware North have met 15 times since March 15. The employees have been without a contract all year.

Delaware North says that Tuesday’s offer is their best and final one.

In response, the union said that the package presented by Delaware North does include healthcare for any worker and that it removed previously agreed-upon items about nonprofits in the stadium.

UNITE HERE Local 17 said it is “filing charges against the company for regressive and bad faith bargaining.”

Adding that, “What happens now is up to Delaware North workers, who will discuss next steps as a union.
