Former Hennepin County detention deputy given community service for hospital lockdown

A former Hennepin County Detention Deputy was sentenced to 16 hours of community service and a stayed sentence for causing a lockdown at a Maple Grove hospital.

Dillon Field was ordered to commit 16 hours of community service and given a 1-year stayed sentence requiring him to complete a year of probation. The sentence was part of a plea deal he made earlier this year

Earlier this year, police responded to a report of an assault at Maple Grove Hospital on Feb. 5.

Field’s wife was in the bathtub in the bathroom of her delivery room. The woman’s mother said that Field was yelling and became aggressive and that the woman wanted Field to leave. The woman’s mother went to get a nurse and said Field shoved her and tried to lock himself in the bathroom with his wife.

When the nurses came to the room, Field left, according to court documents.

Field’s wife alleged Field’s behavior toward her was abusive and violent. According to a criminal complaint, Field’s wife had moved out months earlier because he was abusing her.

Documents show that Fields was only allowed at the hospital if he behaved.

Police say Field showed up already aggressive and was removed from the hospital. They say he then came back and tried to lock himself in the bathroom with his wife, which prompted the lockdown.

Field was on leave from his position in Hennepin County pending an internal investigation. His current status with the sheriff’s office is not known.
