By rssfeeds-admin Organizers of the Ozark Heritage Festival are looking for vendors and demonstrators to take part in this year’s event, scheduled for Oct. 16 and 17 in downtown West Plains.
The festival, sponsored by the West Plains Council on the Arts, began more than 35 years ago as a celebration of old-time Ozark music. Since then, it has grown into a regional event highlighting traditional crafts, music, food and the history of the Ozark Highlands.
Organizer Kathleen Morrissey says the festival welcomes artisans and demonstrators who preserve traditional skills, including blacksmithing, woodworking and other heritage crafts. Food vendors also are invited to apply.
In addition to live music and artisan demonstrations, this year’s festival will feature children’s activities, a mule jumping competition and ways residents can participate. Morrissey says the festival is looking for people to share traditional Ozark skills.
