Mountain Home City Council approves resolution supporting hospital foundation grant

The Mountain Home City Council was originally going to have the night off Thursday due to lack of an agenda and their regular meeting was cancelled. But early Thursday afternoon a special meeting was called so the council could hear a resolution concerning a grant the Baxter Health Hospital Foundation is applying for which was approved.

Trisha Terry, a gift officer for the hospital foundation, told the council the foundation has applied for an Arkansas Community Assistance Grant totaling $97,290 for the Baxter Health Wellness Center. The foundation has raised $19,500 in matching funds.

Terry told the council $42,000 of the funds will be used for flooring. They will use $10,000 to replace three emergency exits and repair stairway ramps. Other funds will be used for exercise equipment, the rock steady program and employee salaries.

The hospital needed the council to approve the resolution as required as part of the grant application process.

The resolution was approved unanimously.
