By rssfeeds-admin The most significant portion of the budget discussion was that declining enrollment is now being listed on the Arkansas State Aid Notice. The portion allocated by the state in aid was $450,795 which was added as revenue to the budget. Notably, revenue is down $1 million for the new year but expenses are also down $1.5 million. The budget for the new school year also includes allocation for the purchase of five school buses for the district. The 2026-27 budget was passed unanimously by the board.
During discussion of enrollment Superintendent Allison Dewey reported that the listed figure of 3642 students was up nearly 10 more in just a day but also that those numbers will be in a state of flux until at least the first month school passes as their will be inevitable drops and transfers in and out of the district.
During discussion board member Scott Booth boasted on the presentation of the campuses for open house that had been held that
evening. Also noting that the teachers and staff presented the school in a positive light and that by his estimation students were excited to return to class next Tuesday.
Superintendent Dewey joined in with Booth on the excitement for the new school year, “We are all just looking forward to have those kids back on campus.”
The meeting lasted just under 30 minutes before entering into executive session.
