Chocolate plunge opens new Idaho Falls store with freebies and half-price goodies on Saturday

IDAHO FALLS — Life is about to get a little sweeter in eastern Idaho with the opening of a new Chocolate Plunge.

The popular treat shop has been in Rexburg since January 2024. Donna Waite founded the business with her nephew, Ty Walker. They say one of the questions they’ve been asked the most over the years is when they plan to expand to Idaho Falls.

Now that day has come.

“We have the best chocolate-covered treats you’ve ever tasted,” Walker tells EastIdahoNews.com. “We use a premium Swiss chocolate from Switzerland and it’s incredible. We have our cups of strawberries or bananas that we dip into the chocolate from a flowing fountain we imported from Italy.”

In addition to strawberries and bananas, customers can select a piece of cheesecake, key lime pie, an ice cream bar or an ice cream sandwich that are plunged into chocolate. The treats are then coated with a variety of toppings such as toasted coconut, sprinkles, nuts, pretzels and M&M’s.

The new store, located at 3400 South 25th East, has a drive-thru and large seating area for customers or special events.

“We have a lot more room than we do in our first location,” Waite explains. “We want to be able to host parties here, birthday celebrations, baby showers and bridal showers. We want to bring people together, enjoy yummy chocolate, have fun and be a good presence in the community.”

Chocolate Plunge opens to the public on Saturday at 11 a.m. The first 150 customers get a free swag bag, with $50 gift certificates hidden in some of them. Everything on the menu will be 50% off all day.
