St. Charles man drowns after medical emergency while kayaking south of Dora

A 75-year-old Missouri man drowned Saturday afternoon after suffering a medical emergency while kayaking on the North Fork of the White River in Ozark County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MHSP), the incident occurred shortly after 3 in the afternoon about five miles south of Dora. The St. Charles man reportedly lost consciousness after encountering a medical emergency, causing his 12-foot fiberglass kayak to capsize.

Air Evac was on scene and first aid was administered, but the man was pronounced dead at 4:26 p.m. He was transported by the Ozark County coroner to Clinkingbeard Funeral Home.

The MHSP said the man’s next of kin had been notified.
