Part of I-494 closes this weekend — here’s how to get around it

A weekend closure on part of Interstate 494 will shut down both directions and send drivers in the south metro onto detours.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is scheduled to close I-494 in both directions between Highway 100 and Highway 77 from Friday at 10 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m.

Highway 100, Highway 62 and Highway 77 are the detour routes around the closure.

MnDOT says the closure will allow crews to do pipe installation and other maintenance work.

Anyone traveling in the area should plan ahead and expect delays.
