Itasca County authorities announced Friday they are investigating a Deer River woman’s “suspicious” death.
The Itasca County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded on Thursday around 7 p.m. to a report of a woman lying in a ditch near County Road 39, near Deer River. Authorities identified the woman as 37-year-old Rikki Skog, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said Skog was last known to have been seen on July 15. Now, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation.
Itasca officials are seeking the public’s help from anyone who may have seen Skog on or after July 15 or has information that could help investigators.
The public is asked to call the Itasca County Sheriff’s Office at 218-326-3477, Option No. 1.
Authorities said the investigation remains active and no additional information will be released at this time.
