Minnesota joins $29.6M settlement over generic drug price fixing

Minnesota reached a settlement Friday with a generic drug maker over allegations that it kept prescription drug prices high.

Attorney General Keith Ellison announced that Minnesota joined a $29.6 million nationwide settlement with Glenmark. The agreement resolves allegations that Glenmark manipulated prices and reduced competition for generic prescription drugs.

Minnesota’s share of the settlement is $187,000. Ellison’s office said that brings the total recovered for Minnesota from settlements with Glenmark, Lannett, Bausch, Apotex and Heritage to more than $560,000.

What can consumers do?

Consumers who bought a generic prescription drug made by the companies mentioned between May 2009 and December 2019 may be eligible for compensation.
