Harmonic Donates $25,000 to Venezuela Earthquake Relief Through Global Empowerment Mission

Harmonic, a provider of virtualized broadband solutions, has pledged $25,000 to Global Empowerment Mission to support the group’s earthquake relief operations in Venezuela.

The contribution is designated for GEM’s Venezuela Earthquake Relief program and is intended to help sustain immediate distribution of emergency supplies, including medical items, clean water and hygiene kits, to hard-hit communities, the companies said.

“When disaster strikes in a region where our customers, partners and colleagues live and work, we want to support by acting quickly,” Nimrod Ben-Natan, Harmonic president-CEO, said. “The people of Venezuela need support right now. Partnering with an organization like GEM, which has trusted networks and resources on the ground, is the most direct way we can ensure our contribution translates into real relief.”

Michael Capponi, president-founder of Global Empowerment Mission, said corporate funding enables rapid logistics and distribution. “Corporate partners stepping up with immediate funding is what allows our recon and emergency response teams to keep packing and distributing vital supplies directly into the hardest-hit communities,” he said.

Harmonic said the donation is intended to sustain GEM’s operations at a critical stage of the relief effort as teams coordinate distributions across Venezuela’s hardest-hit areas.
